Alex Beaton
Alexander Macleod Beaton is guitar-playing folksinger who currently
makes more than 20 concert appearances annually at various events across
the United States. These are primarily highland games, Scottish clan
reunions, and other Celtic events. Beaton appears annually at the
Grandfather Mountain Highland Games in North Carolina, and the Stone
Mountain Highland Games in Atlanta, Georgia, two of the largest highland
games events in the United States.
Beaton is known for his powerful stage presence and sense of humor. He
frequently interacts and jokes with audiences while performing and
in-between songs. One of his albums, Daft Ditties, is comprised
entirely of comedic songs. Beaton is also known for his keen knowledge
of Scotland's history

The Hooligans
The Hooligans are a five member Celtic rock band from and around
the mountains of Western North Carolina. Influenced by such
ground-breaking bands like Seven Nations and Enter the Haggis, they set
out to play celtic music. In their music, you will hear influences that
range from Toto to Bowling for Soup and all points in between. Mix in
the haunting sounds of traditional Celtic instruments like, the highland
bagpipes, whistles, flute, mandolin and other instruments and you get
the Hooligans.

Pipe and Drum was established in 1996 to continue the traditions
of Scotland and her music.
Palmetto Pipes and Drums:
Formed in 1998 and is based in Columbia SC.
Irish Stepdancing
The Celtic Rhythm Dancers are an Irish stepdancing
team from Augusta Ga. Students range in age from 7 to adult. Mamie
McAbee is the instructor. The website is

Scottish Country Dancing
The Palmetto Scottish Country Dancers keep the
traditional ballroom dancing of Scotland alive. This dance group, from
Columbia SC, was established in 1979 and is affiliated with the Royal
Scottish Country Dance Society. For more information, contact

Highland Dancing
Laura Tellefsen, inspired by friends her age who were
attending Highland dancing classes, Laura began Highland dancing at the
age of 7. After several years of successful competition, Laura took a
break from Highland dancing. When she returned to at age 18, Laura
quickly moved up the ranks to the Premier competition level and garnered
awards from competitions along the east coast and Scotland.
In June, 2005 Laura passed her teachers
exam. Now a certified Highland Dance instructor, Laura
teaches Highland dancing in Charleston, SC, where she
purchased her first home."
Border Collies
Border Collies are the epitome of Scottish
tradition. The Bill Colburn collies of Laurens, SC, are
award winning dogs who have demonstrated their herding skill
